I was physically abused* by teachers in elementary school in communist Poland and am of the view that corporal punishment doesn't belong in the classrooms of a modern secular state.

I dunno. I'm inclined to say no since it isn't the teachers responsibility to administer the spankings.

I'll tell you though that I did get swatted in the face by a teacher in kindergarten in Singapore for being a smart guy though! Not only that, she had the gem turned on the inside so it actually drew blood on my cheek. Naturally my folks were furious, I'm told that my mom actually saw the teacher in the same grocery store while I was with her and started screaming at her and naturally they tried to sue the school but the way it was set up in Singapore, there had to be a consensus by the school administration to allow it to happen and naturally all the teachers protected her.
