That said, Classical needs to stay away from my Missus if he moves over here. She likes the Aussie accent.
That sounds like a challenge, I mean, I better heed the warning. ;) BTW, there is not a Classical, but a classical here, so that warning must not be for me. :mischief:

@Ram. :rotfl:

Some kind of science musuem sounds good. Probably a good plan should we go to London.

BTW, I'm fine with anywhere in the London/Bristol/Birmingham triangle (could go to Cambridge in a push), its the timing thats gonna be the restricting factor.

Natural History museum or Science Museum for me! Fossils, dinosaurs, cool displays that go beep, railway engines, building a bridge with lumps of foam, the exho-phone thingy, and a slide-swing that weighs you! :D

I guess no-one else is interested in Birmingham, then? Nice and central for the UK, excellent public transport, home of the balti, some extraordinarily huge shopping centres, a massive nightclub area, and if all else fails we can crash in my flat.

How can I get to Birmingham without entering the Midlands?

I had to live near on 9 months in Cannock and I will never forgive the Midlands.

London smells and Oxford is full of scum. I say Cambridge! Anyone for a pint in the pub where they worked out the structure of DNA? I'll give punt tours for anyone who wants to come down a bit earlier (slightly cheaper than the official ones and I won't make stuff up like they do).

Filthy Tabs took a beating last I heard. Who won the boat race eh? It's a lovely place for a drink (The Druids was my favourite, but now sadly closed) but as a university? Makes me laugh.

Alcohol trumps culture every time. I'll join you in a bar run whilst they ponder some modern art

*Offers High Five*

*returns high five* *makes the noise of a good high five*

Yer whilst all these museums will be facinating and everything-unless i can bring my beer round with me it begs the question just what is the point???

i've never been 'out' in oxford/london/wherever we end up going, so i dont want to ruin it by being sober!

Birmingham, we can all top and tail with sophie, wherever we go i'll likely be spending the night in the train station, anyone else wanna share my box?

I suppose it would depend on how long we're gonna meet up for. If it's just for a day then I would say socialising in pubs and restaraunts would be best, but if for a couple then more activities to mix it up a bit. :)

to spice it up we simply hit a variety of clubs:rolleyes:

Oh to be fair I'd be happy either way :D

I'd be more happy if we mixed the two. Clubbing in the Imperial War Museum. Tanks and beer. And that spitfire I think they have. :mischief:

Stapel: If you come over, then maybe we can arrange a visit to Lord's Cricket ground for you. Have you been before? We can also do that swing and seam bowling lesson!

This sounds really, really great!
Never been there before and I would love to visit the Marylebone Cricket Club :D .

Imperial War Museum! We could steal it's T-34 tank and drive around London!

One of the best museums I've ever visted, but that's becuase I'm interested in the subject.

The presence of all the real stuff makes it an 'easy to visit' museum, I guess.

Science museum sounds ok to me :) !

Sounds like London has it. Sophie, sorry, but Birmingham sucked when I lived in Stafford for 5 years. All the disadvantages of a big city like London, and precious few of the advantages. Brick Lane curries (and the veggie ones near Euston) knock yer average Brummie Balti into the cocked hat it was probably cooked in. More canals than Venice, perhaps, but none of them in places you'd want to go near. The only thing I'd rate there is the concert hall where old Rattle used to strut his stuff - a fine, fine location for classical music.

Somehow, I just don't see a CfC meet-up going to a classical music concert, so I think we're still best with London.

It'll probably resurface on page 9, and then we'll opt for London on page 12 after all.

Dammit, we should have run a sweepstake!

Stapel: I'm happy to make a detour to the Home of Cricket for you. And that need not coincide with any CFC meet up. You're always welcome. :)
