Zelda MOD and scenarios thread

How about both a mapless mod and one with a map and preplaced cities? That wouldn't be much harder than only doing one.

First of all, there has to be a Mod, correct?

What we have to agree on first is what civs will be in the game altogether. That includes Civs in scenarios, the actual mod, dungeons, whatever. I agree with Kulade, in that we should definitely have a random game, with at least most of the civs available. We are doing that with Star Wars MOD as well, keeping the feel of a true civ game to a certain degree.

Somethings just cannot be done on a map, but some can.
Example: Termina and Hyrule can be done,
Hyrule and the world from WW should not be, since it is basically the same place, just sunken. It would be best to combine those in a random map.

As for scenarios, there should be a general "defeat Ganon" scenario, that involves collecting triforce pieces, medallions, something like that, probably in the place of the Space Race. We could also include some sort of dungeons, that you have to defeat in order to get to resources needed or something like that. Wars are also a very definite possiblity, such as the war from ALttP, and the one mentioned at the beginning of OoT. We can only guess what they were, but that is where imagination comes in.

I have played only Oot and MM lately, so any information on ANY other civs is greatly appreciated. If you have any, please post whatever info you can.

I clearly prefer the scenarios project, but if I can help with anything, I will.

Eolians
Mid spoiler from Minish Cap
Spoiler :
The Eolians (the name may not be the same in english, it's a litteral translation from french) are a human race/people that were living in Hyrule in the Wind Temple (Meso-American feeling) and were at peace with the others. They built numerous robots garding their city. Years ago, they left the terrestrial world to live in the clouds. They can walk on the clouds and even build buildings on them. Perhaps because theirs hearts are pure (or maybe is it another advanced design).

Obviously, they can't be represented that way, but I would like to integrate them in their "Temple of Wind" status. Meso-American and robotic units and technologies.

Yes there does have to be a mod.

We should try to make a map with Hyrule and Terminia together and maybe lands from a Gameboy game that would probably work.

Other civs I suggest:

Terminia
Leader: Mayor Dotour
UU: Maybe the guards at the gate w/ spears, some type of pikeman

Ikania (Ancient nation)
Leader: Igos du Ikana
UU: Some typical looking swordsman.

Pirates (the gerudos in MM
Leder: ???
UU: Pirate ship (not in the game, but o well)

Good LHs, Varlin. :)

I'm currently doing a Hyrule map based on OoT with a few new additions (such a Marsh somewhere between the Hylia Lake and the Kokori Woods) for the scenario I'm so fond of.

Okay, I'm back!! School has been a $!7@% lately, so I haven't been able to much of anything. I have been thinking, though. And getting input from friends from school, who know nothing about civ, but everything about Zelda. They suggest that we should take some liberties with the unit lines, and give civs a military whether they are a power in Zelda or not. I agree. I still think that, however, scenarios that include the Kokiri, they should not have combat units. They are bascially kids, afterall

I would not agree. Kokiri are kids (as far as never aging people can be kids) but they're the inhabitants and defenders of the Forest/Lost Woods. Can you imagine these individuals hiding in the trees, waiting for their ennemis, building traps and finaly hitting them with their stones, arcs, ect ? Did you ever watch Peter Pan ? :D

Plus, how a civ without combat units could survive in Civ, especially if it's a mod.

I suppose you are right there. I just can't see them actually fighting though. Artillery units would be a good choice then? High (but not lethal) bombard? And I guess that since it is the Kokiri Sword, that would mean that at one point, there was some form of combat...

have units with
1 move
low/no attack
high defence
medium bombard
1 range
looks like a trap or stone-thrower

thats just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the bump, I have been mondo busy lately.

Where were we?

Oh yeah. I say we not worry about the Kokiri and their units yet.

Scenario-wise, we have:

Hyrule/Termina map
WW map
(just for giggles) a LoZ map

Mod-wise, we should have a giant map, one with three main "continents" (Hyrule, Termina, the one from WW). I know that WW and Hyrule are technically the same thing, but we could still have them both on the same map. If we did that we would have a decent number of civs for a game.

Well, I don't know about the H-T-WW map. An H-T could work but H-T-WW ? I think it would hurt the ambiance.. And what a decent number of Civs ?

Currently, we have (without WW) :
Hyrulians, Kokoris, Gorons, Zoras, Deku Scrubs, Gerudos, Evil Civ (Ganondorf, Moblins, etc), Terminians (even if it would closely looks like Hyrule). From Oracle games, we can add the Subrosians.
9 civs.

WW would only add the Ritos. And we can add them without the WW map anyway.

Another subject, did you see my suggestion in the Mothra thread ?
