If Hunter Biden is given years of Federal felony jail time, HIS DAD is going to pardon him, 100%, its not even a question of if. Its done. There is no way as a Dad you are letting YOUR SON rot in jail when you have the absolute power to wave your magic wand (pen) and let him out.

The only question is when he will give Hunter the pardon and I will agree that the politics/optics will influence that. My bet would be that at a minimum, Biden waits until he is either re-elected or not re-elected, but the last month/week of his "lame-duck" period is the absolute latest that he would issue the pardon. Either way, there is no effing way that Joe Biden leaves office with his son languishing in jail.

EDIT: My Xmas trees are up BTW. Two live/natural and one artificial/plastic and they look amazing! My kids did all the decorating this year. I am surprised by something else. Trump, by Trump standards, responded rather softly. Trump could have associated Biden with whichever political or social group that Trump doesn't like, and then attack that group viciously. Why didn't Trump do that? We all know that facts are completely irrelevant when it comes to ideological mindset, from all sides. Be it the "it was just a peaceful protestation in january 6" while Trump actively encouraged it, "it's because the right-wing media control everything" when the main media are about 75 % leaning left or "the election was stolen by Democrats" when we have Trump ordering people to "find votes regardless of how" on record.
I don't know how it will be possible to deradicalize people in the long run, but it's a trend that (while it existed since humans are humans) I've felt has become more and more common and is threatening entire societies.

If I have ever seen somebody that I wish wasn't doing what she was doing, but was definitely going to get killed by the US government, this would be it. You do not get to chase evacuating legislators, physically over their bodyguards.

I get that some people wanted to see lmgs mowing down red hats on the capitol steps, but they're also in the deranged column along with thinking you should be able "punch Pelosi in the mouf" to keep her from handling the gavel. San Fran does elect her.

I was a people that wanted arrests on the spot. While the thing unfolded I was amazed this just happened without intervention. And I was wrong.
Arrests would have upped the already heated temperature, chaos and would have probably led to more suffering.
Making the arrest on the many hours of footage available (the criminals were kind enough to proudly record their crimes) afterwards was the better move.
