You say that it sometimes blocks images? In several years of using imageshack to post here no one else has said they had a similar experience. Those two things raise the suspicion that the source of your problem may lie elsewhere.

Imageshack have recently (last week or a little more) changed their policy.
Now to see hotlinked images on other domains you have to either be logged in to imageshack or to have the domain registered on their side.

I came across this problem last week when I uploaded an image and posted it in the forums, and got that frog. I also looked at images I've previously downloaded and they were frogged.

I went to the link stated there, and since they said that anyone can register a domain, not just the owner, I requested to register forums.civfanatics.com.
A couple of days later I checked and it seems to be fixed.

Now when I went to the register domain link they say that "Only Owners, Administrators, Operators, or Moderators may register the domain."

Just to explain one of the reasons I think that the problem is not on my side:
If I just open the link to the image - I can see it just fine, so nothing in the way is actually blocking the image.
However, even after that, when I reload the page (regardless of cache - I tried both F5 and ctrl-F5).
So the domain from which the image is read does matter.

No one else seems to be experiencing the problem you describe. So the source of the problem must be somewhere other than CFC or Imageshack.

It was fixed a couple of days later, so I assumed you somehow took care of it
