24 hours is different from one calendar day.

Using the calendar day would be very confusing and could easily lead to double-dipping, not just at 11:59 PM (23:59) and 12:00 AM (0:00) local time.

About Khufu and the ancient historians. Those historians wrote their histories long after Khufu died and assumed out of Greek cultural bias that massive structures could only be built by a tyrant and slave labor. We know now that the Pyramids were not built by slaves but rather as more of a public works project.
