So, same Zep with multiple types of attacks (all in different FLC's). What types, machinegun, small and large cannon turrets, and laser :mischief:.

What program are you using, tom? In Blender you can set the camera to render in ortho or perspective, maybe you could try the same in whatever you're using.

Thanks, at first I ignored ortho because it looked weird, but I guess that's how it's supposed to look in isometric view. Just have to make sure my camera height is 30 deg angle to the target.

The Steampunk Zep from Google Warehouse looked pretty similar to regular Zeps. I suppose it should just be bronzish or something.

I am finishing the Propeller Island tonight. Took a couple days off. I am rendering the final death animation. I had to redo it because not all atmospherics (fire effects) work in orthographic view, so I had to figure another way to do the explosions; made some other minor positive adjustments. I will post it a little bit later on.

From what I've found, this shouldn't be too tough to get done. Is it still going to be used as a sea transport? And you want 1 section as shown in the pics?

If ocean = space, and it has no propulsion (right? no steam or nothing then.. and no weapons)... as the video showed it being shot out of a mega-cannon to the moon. Do you want it to be pretty large? or perhaps around the size of the Firaxis transport?

So, it would really just need Default, Death, Run, and Fidget. Some type of Attack would be needed though I would think. If I make an attack let me know what it should use. Then I can make a Victory also.

The basic shape & animations should be relatively simple. Here's a direct link to the Vernian Capsule images referenced in the Steampunk Unit Requests thread. The way the terrain is set (water = space) it's functionally a naval unit, afaik. So it would have the same animations as a transport. The detailing is where the real creativity would lie. & There's a lot of freedom in that part of the design.

EDIT: It's ballistic, no internal rockets. If you want to see an animation sample look to Méliès "Trip to the Moon" from 1902.

So, i know i havent posted for a while, for a reason. The rendering process takes forever, and when i notice something wrong, well i have to do it all over again...so...that being said...here is a preview of what i have so far...just default>fidget>death

Hmmm. Grappling hooks and cannons? It's conceived of as a transport, rather than a fighting ship, so it doesn't require alot of weaponry... "whatever" sounds fine...

I urge everyone to take a look at the updated first page of this thread, as our unit requests are getting more specific as we get closer to completion of version 1. We appreciate everyone's input now more than ever!
 
@Balth: I made a laser and small MG/auto-cannon attack. I've already posted the unit, but anything can be added. I made the run as shown with stars passing by, but the default.flc can be used so stars don't pass by if it looks better in game.

For Dejah, I've decided to scrap the other one I was working on, and start anew. I have been messing around with learning how to make my own clothes... so I will add clothes to the model myself; as well as animate her (for practice). I'll have a much better degree of customizing her the way I wish.
 
@Balth: For the attack anims...which have been what were taking me so long...i was thinking of having the bullet burn then blow up, but then i realized, that the bullet will be too fast for you to even see in burn....so my new idea is just to simulate a muzzle flash, then show an explosion off to the side (the bullet exploding) should i go with that, or just a simple laser?

How about a green muzzle flash? That would simulate both ideas.

It looks fine - I don't know about the stars until I see it in action. As far as Dejah, YES! Go for it! Tom! Tom! Tom! Tom!....
 
ok, i'll do a green flash with a relatively small explosion near the end of the frame...does that work? (i like explosions)
 
Here's the Dejah as of now... I'm pretty much making her after that pic of Dejah shown. Not sure where the civ color is going to go :), might add a cloth on each side or front. Animating this is probably going to be tough though.. may take a while to get it right. At least now I can give her a holster (probably a small string or rope) for her gun. I didn't make the 3d model, a buddy who is good with this stuff gave it to me to borrow, I just had to add everything else (the clothes, what little there is). I'll add the arm gear the pic has on, and I still have the weapons from the other model I can import in (knife, sword, and pistol).
