What would removing soda from your diet do for you?

I don't like soda nor coffee, so it's a nonissue for me. I also get water at restaurants/fast foods I go to, because I'm cheap and don't really like paying $2.00 USD for a single drink (even if it is refillable). It raises the cost of the meal anywhere from like 10-20%!

McDonalds sweet tea is something I would get, just that I don't go to mcdonalds.

I've done the same. I started to just order water if I'm paying for my meal. If someone else is buying, then I'll probably get a coke though. I only drink cokes at restaurants.

It is unhealthy. My county's tap water in general is pretty terrible, and at one point I believe there was a study done that proved the tap water increased aggression if drank daily. If my tap had a proper filter on it I would gladly drink it, but unfortunately a good filter is a tad expensive and something my mother does not wish to do.

Where are you from?

I have no problem with water anywhere even after living in Walkerton. And having the public utility cause 7 deaths by fraud and lieing about water quality makes people a tad paranoid.
The only exception being places that are chlorinated to the point where turning on a tap stinks up the entire house, but while common in 2000 most places aren't that badand just a cheap Brita filter clears up any issues (or if is just chlorine you just need to keep a pitcher of water in the fridge, it mostly clears itself up).

As for that study, a source would be appreciated.

Yeah, Walkerton water is pretty good, and very close to that area. The Dundalk-Flesherton region is terrible however, even though I'm pretty sure it comes from Walkerton, which seems strange. Maybe has to do with the piping here.

I tried looking for a source, and couldn't find one. It is quite possible it's just rumours that I have heard or something that people just say, however I wouldn't completely write it off because the people where I live do actually seem very aggressive compared to people in other areas. Could just be the people though.

@jtb: I do not have a choice in the matter, as I said. I do not buy my beverages, nor am I capable of working to achieve anything better. A crippling terminal illness seemingly prevents labour.

Your tap water is not going to increase aggression. If it does, then it's the placebo effect. If you are noticing increased aggression in others, then it's confirmation bias. It's all psychological - if I tell you that scientists have shown that people who drink/eat X become more confident over time, then chance are you will become more confident if you drink/eat X, regardless of what X is. Try it on your wife/brother/sister/friend/etc...

Your water may not taste nice, but it certainly isn't going to be harmful. You live in Ontario, not Pakistan...

I dropped soda for awhile, but now I'm back. But only can drink once a day or I'll feel sick, but I drink even less than that. Maybe three times a week at most.

It doesn't come from Walkerton.
AIt doesn't even make sense since, at the very least, you would end up piping water directly through Hanover or Durham.
In that area, are you even on public water supply? Based on a quick google Flesherton residents don't pay water fees, so they are probably on private wells.

It appears you stopped reading after the very first part of the sentence where I brought it up. Please go back and read my posts.

Ah, alright. My mistake. I'm not very up to date on the details here, or just about anywhere.

Dundalk is. Not sure about Flesherton, most of the homes I have seen there do not have wells, so I would assume they're on the water supply.

I read all of your posts. I also went back and read them again, just in case. How many times would you like me to say I've read them?

Enough times until you realize that what I said wasn't fact nor did I claim it to be, so it was pretty pointless to try and prove me wrong in something I wasn't even adamant in.

Same here.

I think you have that backwards.

I gave up soda for two years and gained weight! As long as I do not overdo it, I am fine. If I lost weight and knew drinking it would cause me to gain that weight back, I would stop. I cannot eat chocolate either, but I still crave it.

I think he's talking about this post.

I don't mind pop, but I don't drink it often enough to actually consider taking it out of my diet. My brother, if in a kind mood, might bring home some soda for me like once every couple months, and other than that, I only get it at restaurants (which I also don't go to very often) or at a party er something.

I end up drinking tap water most of the time.

By "soda" you mean sweet, sugary, fizzy drinks?

I stopped drinking that crap years ago. Now even the thought of it gives me goose bumps. It's basically liquid sugar with just the right amount of acids to dissolve tooth enamel. I've never had a tooth cavity and I'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible.
