Aaanyway, animations are still a right pain. I can't get any of the animations to work as they should. I've tried many many different ways to do it and its an enigma.

The SDK hasn't come out yet. This is not the SDK, this is a set of plugins for 3ds max that allows you to create new models for Civ4.

Did they mention at all when the SDK is going to be released?

If they dont release it soon, I may infact have to resubmit myself to the asylum.
 
Hi, I'm kind of new here, but have been keeping an eye on these forums off and on for a while now.

Is it possible to import models from the game into 3ds max? If so, how?
 
Regarding import, isn't it possible to import a model in latest blender plug-in, and exporting to 3ds max format?

Wouldn't this also give support for the old kf-files from the model? At least by doing animation stubs in 3ds max, and overwrite them with the old kf-files.

I think this unofficial plugin release mean that SDK is considerably delayed.

They will release it together with next Civ4 expansion, so they can get more money, d'oh!

yeah, a month is a very unrealistic time to get the feel of a program, even if you are an expert in the area.
 
This is a simple statement with no hints about how to do anything illegal:

The 30 day trial version of 3ds max is the complete, full version. They just simply don't give you the authorization code you need to activate it.

This is Me-262 model I'm making for Paasky's WW2 Mod. It's just static nif file without any animations but when I give it recon order it moves around.
I did modelling and texturing in 3dsmax but before exporting it to civ I had to change the shaders to CivIV XPlatform Material. Be careful when applying another material within that one. It will accept Standard and Multi/Sub-Object but many others won't show after exporting.
Another problam is the scale. I had to reduce my model 100x and after that it's way too far from the ground and I don't know how to reset it.
It would be really nice if we could get some documentation. There're so many options and scripts esp. for animation that it'll be hard to figure it out by trial and error.
