Insects MOD (Discussion & unit preview)

Spacer One... What a "Bummer", you lost your work. Not that it will help ease your loss much now but I can tell you that if you do re-make the Interface, it will be faster, easier and better the second time.

Supa... I vote #1 if it will blend with the other terrain. Your terrain, from what I have gathered, will be quite colorful and have high contrast. #1 will show Units more distinctly and it also looks more like sand.

So #1 it'll probably be.

Ok, first time I see this thread, and I did not read everything, but the little I read I love it.

From the first page someone mention naval unit as a snake. So I tough, as they are insects, what if you use just some peace of wood to be a ship? As an attack, the wood would just bump into the other one, and whoever lose would crack (hope I wrote that right) and sink(Edit:mentioning the peace of wood, for some reason, I read what I post and didn't sound so good..lol).

Well like I say, I did not read everything in this thread, so I don't know how far you are in the mod, sorry if the idea was already suggested, or you have one planned already.

Do you plan to use the Leaf and Flower both for the transport?

Nope, only one transport is planned and it's the naval nenufar or the piece of wood.

...also, do you plan to have "Paradrop" ability for any of the units?

Not for the moment, but it's not written in stone.

Just some helpful information as I have pretty extensive knowledge of ants.

" The Horde" that people have referred to is better known as the army ants. You would probably want the eciton burchelli species. They are the "classic" army ant. Type in army ants on Google image and you'll see them. They had huge mandibles, which could leave significant cuts. The army ant units should be the highest powered unit both offensively and defensively. They are superior to every other type of insect. They are the real kings of the jungle. The Atta is a type of ant that cuts leaves, which they bring back to their colony, and grow fungus. When the ants are carrying back the leaves, they are completely defenseless from predators, unless they drop their precious booty. Therefore, you would probably want the worker to be represented by the leafcutting workers. Their large manbibles mean they you would want to give their major workers low offensive values, but high defense, since they were a relatively peacful species, unless a predator came into their territory. For a bombardment unit, you would have a acid spraying ant, much like the "gunner" from the Empire of the Ants game.

Just some suggestions. Hope they help.

Cuts? Try puncture wounds. Also, some tribes have been known to use them as stiches. (make them bite you, then twist off the body.

And acid spraying ants are nothing next to exploding ants. Thats right, exploding ants. They build up pressure in their bodies until they burst, covering their enemies with a sticky toxin.

Nature sure is weird.

OK. I've been stocking this thread for awhile and I decided to help! I can do Interface, Diplomacy, Terrain, City's and City Screen

I can use only nature materials for those... that is if your interested!

Shouldn't the trees be bigger than the Spearman ? ;-) Bigger and it would be less clear and you would be able to see patterns faster.

A little preview :

Spoiler :

As you can see, grass and dirt looks a little different.. More crisp.

I'll be following this... looks really interesting.

Will you be using your Ebirah as a naval unit? Lobsters are basically big insects.
