Unit Requests: Steampunk

I don't get on here very often, but I happened to see that post and it was about forum policy, not PDMA.

That which you've just done is engaging in PDMA, too. Take it up with Blue Monkey if you like, but not on the thread.

Oops! Didn't even think about it before I posted. sorry. I'm not used to such strict rules, other forums are more lax, although alot more crazy.

Moderator Action: One of several reasons that pdma is not allowed is because such statements are by nature out of context. The infraction was issued in a context that extends beyond this thread.

General warning: any further discussion of this situation here or in other threads will be infracted.

I'm gonna have to go back and look at the Infinitum units again, or find that post. I'm not particularly anxious to load you up with new projects at a time when you're almost done with the Tharks (next up: Tharks with guns!), which is my favorite of your projects. You also suggested that you might conjure a Giant Ant, and perhaps some more Barsoomian beasts. If you're asking me what I'd like to see made, that would be it, for now....

I've started the Ant, but it will probably be some work; since it didn't actually come with any textures. I think the render method they showed used VRay, which I don't have. So I'll have to improvise. And the object was a single object, which means I need to divide it into seperate pieces, then rig it with bones.

The next Thark with Mace I can do quick, since it just requires replacing one of the other weapons with a sword.

Well, you guys know how to make a flc out of a single frame, and I don't know what Hikaro used to make that cool mirror shimmer. I don't think I have any after effects type software to do that (plus the gif is no longer available to use from Hikaro's post). So I went ahead and made a mirror (well, half of it, not the victorian patterns of mirror holder) based off of Blue Monkey's mirror.

I'll make just a couple animations, perhaps things involving images in the mirror, and I'll have to find an animated alice (a gif or something, or even movie clip) from somewhere to use as mirror default.

I suppose you really only need a default, and fidget, perhaps victory. If you want a full out mirror capable of battle, then that can be done also.

A Battle Mirror??!! That would be the first time I've ever thought of, or even heard of, the concept 'battle mirror'. Hmmmm....

I would think a default, fidget, death (crack?) would do it, since it's just supposed to be a transporter pad.

Found an "animated shimmer" link >here<, in case it could be of help.

The idea of using a movie image is intriguing as hell. I don't recall that ever being done with a unit before. You're just full of interesting ideas tonight....

I used a clip from an old 1980's Alice "through looking glass" off youtube. Around 1:25 into clip. Perhaps for fidget. There's another where she is hitting the glass (might be better for fidget). Default I am looking for one in the same clip with not so much movement so it flows better.

EDIT: Thanks, used the shimmer effect you gave. Worked quite nicely.

Perhaps a TV set unit can be made showing funny commercials.

Here's probably final with default, fidget, and death. If you need it smaller, can easily resize it later.

Only uses 3 directions, SE, S, SW.

NE and E use SE animations.
NW and W use SW animations.
N uses S animations.

I'll get it up tonight. If there's anything else you want to see with it, let me know.

And thx all for the help!

EDIT: Blue Monkey's Alice Through the Looking Glass is completed also. :)

Just to be clear on this... the Thoat is more like a 4-legged horse, like the pic you have shown?
Spoiler :

Some pictures make it look like a huge amphibian or something.

Which way do you want them? Any color preference? I'm going to try to do Thoat by itself first... and then I can add riders later. IIRC, you needed 2 sizes of them? BIG and small?

I might make the Calot today since I have something that I think I can use and complete it quickly.
