Insects MOD (Discussion & unit preview)

This mod idea is awesome! Plus, alot of these units can be used in other mods as well. I do have one suggestion, though; can you make a giant mosquito, or a mosquito horde? It would be awesome for this mod, and just might find its way into the Star Wars mod, :D
 
Stormrage > Yeah, the Freak isn't free and since I have no use for him in this mod, I don't why we're talking of it. :p

Odintheking > Unless a specific insect-attacking specie is unknown of me, I doubt I would have the use of a mosquito.
 
Will you be making an army ant unit?

I was thinking that maybe we could fuse different species together, and make some sci-fi units, kinda based off empire of the ants. Perhaps an ant can ride on top of a spider, which would act as a sort of cavalry. Just a thought...

I haven't played that game very much and I didn't read the books recently. Which sci-fi units ?

Sure thing..just a thought that struck me. I am still going to enjoy the mod anyways. And I am looking forward to seeing those army ants in action.

A blood-thirsty wish to play as army-ants! :-)))) - I'm going to dread those piranhyas of the insect world and play as a defencive termite tower! :-)... or as a solitary night-killer - a poisonous spider :-P

Supa, along with the unplayable carnovorous arachnid civ, are you going to make other lethal beauties - carabid beetles and carnivorous water insects that could attack ant\termite "boats" (leafs etc.)?

If I can make something effective with the Poser hair tools at civ-scale, yes. If not, I would use textures.

Don't forget that Spiders are unplayable and will remain like it.

If you mean as unplayable civ, no. But as preplaced barbarians or as additionnal units for the Spiders (renamed in this case), why not ?

What are "Humans" and "African Genepool" gonna do? I suppose the alter gives "africanized" killer bees?

Humans will give a GW and African Genepool will give the killer bees, indeed.

Color choices aren't perfect yet, but now you can't mistake it for a hornet anymore. Render time has been multiplied by 10. <.<
 
That's a real cool unit, Supa! What's the civ list, atm? I can see from the Tech Tree that there's going to be Bees, Ants, Hornets and Termites, but will there be any diversity in the civs? eg. One civ= Black Ants, one civ= Red ants?
