From a mod consumer's standpoint, it certainly seems like the good old days.
I know I personally switched to Civ 4 as soon as it came out and tried sticking to it for a while but the fact that a) it chugs hard on all but the most cutting edge of computers and b) it is much harder to mod for than the previous civs (something I would really like to get into) made it not the best experience for me. The time this thread was created was about the time I reinstalled Civ 3 and found all the old mods I loved so much (made by many people in this thread) are still alive and kicking. It made me realize there is still years of entertainment left in my Civ 3 discs. And with all the graphics still being pumped out at a regular clip, there is plenty of material to start thinking about serious modding myself.
