Hey Tom, if you're planning to make riderless horses in different colors (a really good idea, and the preview looks great!), you might want to check out feenix-gallery.com which has pictures and info about horses (including feral horse breeds). It's the most informative I've yet seen on the subject, and chock full of useful details about how different breeds of horses are - and were, historically - used to do certain tasks. It's also got great reference pictures.

Okay, I'm making riderless horses... I'm using your reference Balthasar, which is very useful! So I'm going to try to get a bunch of different ones done, while I'm at it.

This is the horse I'm using, so I'm just going to retexture and keep making new ones until I feel there is enough.

Here's a preview of one already done, which is reddish-brown... most anim are shown.

My plans are the basic variety of colors, and a painted horse.
If anyone perhaps needs or wants a specific color or type, then let me know now while I'm at it and I should be able to no-prob.

Also: Anyone think Civ Color should be added somewhere? I will be doing No-Civ Color versions anyway, and can easily do a Civ Color version as well if anyone wants... but not sure where to put it?

That horse looks awesome.

If you could do one up in black (w/blue eyes?) with the magic lightning attack thrown in (which I could use as Darkhorse from Richard A. Knaak's Dragonrealm series of novels), that would please me greatly. Almost as much as the Dune sandworms you did.

But that horse looks awesome.

Put it on some collar or halter round its neck, if you do riderless warhorses (with mounts on) you can do it on the mount/bridle/reins/etc.

Just saw your marvelous horse Tom (after taking a few days off to battle the flu) and I have to say, I'm quite excited by this one, Tom, as it's up to your usual high standards. The animations you've previewed are excellent, but keep an eye on your horses' gait..

As far as riderless horses go, I could see a Mustang, a Pinto and an Appaloosa filling the remaining available slots in that category, in addition to the horse you've previewed (I'm guessing Quarter Horse?) At least in my mod, these horses will be both feral and available with a 'horse breeding' tech. Once 'bred', they upgrade to a horse w/rider (cost +1 citizen). Of course, since horse breeding goes way back to the beginning of civilization, similar schemes could be used to produce even more exotic breeds, which provides a quite reasonable excuse to make a wide variety..

Any idea when this will be available for download?

We don't yet have a full complement of utility vehicles - horse + buggy, horse(s) + carriage (your black coach being the closest), horse + wagon, etc. I'm working on a way to make them useful to the AI.

A unit I'd like to see someday would be a simple plow-horse w/ metal plow as an upgrade from Oxen w/wooden plow - both as tech-driven 'upgrades' from simple worker irrigation animation. The horse/oxen + plow could be added in to existing worker irrigation animations, perhaps, and just sort of march in place..

And, of course, I'd still like to see what you could do with a Mule...
 
Oh, carts are easy to model. :)
