And interestingly, that forum doesn't have visible postcount.

different forum, different people, different feel to it.

Bring back the postcounts.

All I can say when the BRAC commisson placed the Sub base on the closure list...

Save our Postcounts!

In the poll in OT, more than 82% said post count removal wouldn't affect their posting at all, and only around 7% said it would lessen their posting. Xen who seems to be a leader in this 'crusade' said it would make him post more...

dont even try to play that little trick of discrediting the poster in the debate with me- I've seen it, done, and hadit doen to me far to many times for it escape unnoticed.

I said it true enough, but if you bothered to look at the situation, what I'm posting is hardly spam- its my concerted effort to have a feature that I, and other have always enjoyed on CFC restored, a function that more then a few posters have fond memoeris of, because it dictated how they acted in thier first days here, and how they act now; if you dont like it, and more over feel the need to get personal on the issue, then all I have to say to you is "tough luck" because trying to shift the weight of the argument on critiscising me is no way to go about it.

?? Nothing I said even remotely hinted at spam - that was not my intention. What you have been posting in this thread is not spam, it is a discussion, I am not trying to discredit that.

For a final proposal, I think adding the option of displaying post count, posts per day, or none at all would be great. If that could be done, this would solve the argument, no?

Okay... however post counts should appear by default then. You should click somewhere in order to hide it, not in order to make it appear.

By the way Ginger, what annoys you so much about post counts ? Is that thing about elitism really serious ? Why aren't you disturbed by join dates and titles then ?

I agree, We can have an option to see our postcounts. But the postcounts should be active by default.

Just give us our postcount back. There seem to be many people, myself included, who miss the postcount. What I don't see alot of are people who are singing praises unto the lord for there not being postcounts. Restore the postcounts!

I voted yes. I'm just too used to it. It's useful to see in a quick glance if someone is very active or not, if it's a newbie, ect.
I also voted yes because I see no reason why it should go :-/

I miss my postcount.

It may not have been very big considering how long I've been here, but I wore it in public like a Badge of Honour! I want it back. :)

Also, I was not even aware people wanted them removed. Things like this that effect everyone on the forums should be more public. ie: A poll which is announced, or something. I'm going to have to read up on the reasons for removing them now.

Ok, so I read the other thread on removing them, and seeing as I can't post there, I'll just post here instead. All counters to WillJs original post in that thread.

1. Reducing spam

Not having visible post counts won't stop spammers from spamming.

2. Reducing elitism

And having titles like Diety and King and being able to set your own titles isn't elitism? I think I may just set my title to "King of CFC" just to prove a point here.

3. Reducing the appearance of me spending way too much time here

Whether or not WillJ was actually serious here, this is very selfish.

4. Freeing space for FLAGS (to show one's nationality)! Who doesn't like flags?

This is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard. Seeing peoples locations in words is enough for me. If you want to display a flag, put it in your sig.

5. Everyone who's anyone wants postcounts removed.

Clearly this thread shows otherwise. And could also be taken as an elitism. After all, you clearly think those who want post counts to be visible aren't that important to cfc.

They don't annoy me, but they seem to be the basis of others of which they judge upon people. If they see someone with 1 post they do not think as highly as someone with 200 posts. Join dates isn't the same because it doesn't really tell your activity level (titles, I do not see how that would be 'elitist'). That, and the fact people celebrate "1,000th post!!! PC + 1!!".

That is impossible but you can have your avatar as a flag.

People will celebrate achieving 1000 posts regardless of whether or not the post count is visible.

And setting my title to King of CFC is not elitist? Yet showing post counts encourages it somehow? In the same vein, people will be elitist regardless of whether or not post counts are visible.
